Full control over water, moisture and dust!
Time and quality are crucial on a construction site. You are responsible for progress, health, safety and the environment, and for ensuring that the result is satisfactory. Here you will find methods, equipment and documentation in one place.
Start with the introductory video, which is less than a minute long – it will give you the full picture. Then move on to the checklists and the technical article, where we show you:
- When to choose a condensation or adsorption dehumidifier
- How to set up clean zones and the correct negative pressure
- How to measure, map and document in a way that stands up to scrutiny

Common mistakes – and how to correct them
Challenge
- Condensation dehumidifier in cold zone → low effect
- Adsorption in warm rooms → expensive operation
- Air purifiers with no effect → incorrect placement
- H-class vacuum cleaner without zone → false sense of security
- Too much negative pressure → cold and humid air enters
- Late filter changes → increased back pressure
- Asbestos or other materials harmful to health
Solution
- Switch to adsorption or increase the temperature to speed up the drying process.
- Use a condensation dehumidifier when the temperature is normal – it provides higher efficiency, lower drying costs and easier installation.
- Ensure that the machine is positioned so that it has free air flow for best results.
- Ensure that you establish clean and dirty zones and slight negative pressure before you begin.
- Adjust the pressure and seal any leaks in the zone.
- Set fixed intervals, log replacements, and check machines and filters regularly.
- Only use approved protective equipment and machinery for the purpose. Your health and safety and legal requirements come first.

Checklist
Put RTB – Clean, Dry Construction into practice from planning to completion. Here is a handy checklist to help you keep track of the entire process.
Use it as a support tool for planning and follow-up on the construction site. Download the checklist and get a concrete tool that helps you document progress and ensure RTB standards in every project.

Frequently asked questions
Which dehumidifier should I choose – condensation or adsorption?
Condensation works best at normal temperatures and with steady, high moisture loads. Adsorption is the right choice in cooler temperatures. Adsorption is chosen for drying concrete and construction drying, or when condensation provides insufficient effect. The choice for phase 2 drying after first aid.
How do I know if the building dryer is correctly dimensioned?
Monitor the RF and temperature in the log or on the display. If you lack capacity or air flow, increase the number of dehumidifiers and/or install more fans or reposition them.
How quickly can I expect results from the building dryer?
You should see a steady decrease in RF during the first 24 hours. If this does not happen, see also «How do I know if the building dryer is correctly dimensioned?».
Do I need an air purifier in addition to a vacuum cleaner?
Yes, when airborne dust occurs or when local exhaust ventilation is not sufficient. Position HEPA air purifier(s) so that the air flow goes from the source towards the filter.
How do I set up zones and sub-zones in practice?
Delimit or divide the area with plastic, create a simple airlock, seal leaks and use a fan to create slight negative pressure. Remember to use your own vacuum cleaner and routines for each zone.
What should I do if the log shows that RF is stagnating?
First, check that the equipment is correctly dimensioned. Check the air flow and leaks in the zone. This can often be solved by using more fans, sealing the zone that is being dried, or switching to the correct type of dehumidifier.
What do I need to document to avoid disputes later on?
Measurement log (RF/°C and measurement points), photo log (before/after measures), as well as documentation for machines used and SDS for chemicals. Then you will have good documentation.
What is the minimum PPE required for dust work?
Measurement log (RF/°C and measurement points), photo log (before/after measures), as well as documentation for machines used and SDS for chemicals. Then you will have good documentation.
