Full control over water, moisture and dust!

Time and quality are crucial on a construction site. You are responsible for progress, health, safety and the environment, and for ensuring that the result is satisfactory. Here you will find methods, equipment and documentation in one place.

Start with the introductory video, which is less than a minute long – it will give you the full picture. Then move on to the checklists and the technical article, where we show you:

  • When to choose a condensation or adsorption dehumidifier
  • How to set up clean zones and the correct negative pressure
  • How to measure, map and document in a way that stands up to scrutiny

Five measures to secure the construction site

Dry

It is not enough for the surface to feel dry. Choose the right method and equipment: a condensation dehumidifier at normal temperatures – or adsorption when it is cooler. Ensure good air circulation and log the moisture values during the drying process so that you are in control.

Water

Stop the water flow quickly. Use a bilge pump or water vacuum, and proceed immediately to stable building drying. This will help you avoid unnecessary delays.

Dust

Capture dust where it occurs. Use an M/H class vacuum cleaner or local exhaust ventilation. Install HEPA air purifiers to remove airborne dust and ensure clean air. Alternatively, use extractors with fans and hoses to collect the dust.

Securing a Clean, Dry Building

Cordon off the areas so that dirt and moisture do not spread. Apply slight negative pressure and create zones with plastic sheeting to separate clean and dirty zones and secure areas that are not affected.

Measurement and documentation

Create security with careful mapping. Log moisture values RF/°C and measurement points, take photos along the way, and attach SDS if necessary. Then you will have complete documentation in place.

Checklist - Proff Norway

Checklist

Put RTB – Clean, Dry Construction into practice from planning to completion. Here is a handy checklist to help you keep track of the entire process.

Use it as a support tool for planning and follow-up on the construction site. Download the checklist and get a concrete tool that helps you document progress and ensure RTB standards in every project.

Five steps for a safe and efficient construction site

With well-considered choices, you gain control over time, quality and health, safety and the environment – and documentation that shows what has actually been done. In this technical article, you will find specific advice on how to handle:
Dry
Water
Dust
Security
Measurement
The article provides you with ready-made checklists – ready to be lifted straight into your quality plan.

Frequently asked questions

Condensation works best at normal temperatures and with steady, high moisture loads. Adsorption is the right choice in cooler temperatures. Adsorption is chosen for drying concrete and construction drying, or when condensation provides insufficient effect. The choice for phase 2 drying after first aid.

Monitor the RF and temperature in the log or on the display. If you lack capacity or air flow, increase the number of dehumidifiers and/or install more fans or reposition them.

You should see a steady decrease in RF during the first 24 hours. If this does not happen, see also «How do I know if the building dryer is correctly dimensioned?».

Yes, when airborne dust occurs or when local exhaust ventilation is not sufficient. Position HEPA air purifier(s) so that the air flow goes from the source towards the filter.

Delimit or divide the area with plastic, create a simple airlock, seal leaks and use a fan to create slight negative pressure. Remember to use your own vacuum cleaner and routines for each zone.

First, check that the equipment is correctly dimensioned. Check the air flow and leaks in the zone. This can often be solved by using more fans, sealing the zone that is being dried, or switching to the correct type of dehumidifier.

Measurement log (RF/°C and measurement points), photo log (before/after measures), as well as documentation for machines used and SDS for chemicals. Then you will have good documentation.
