Challenge

  • Persistent sewer odour in the basement?

Solution

  • Pump out water/sludge, use oxidising agent for cleaning and finishing with ProffOx DES 5 L mixed 1:2, and/or BioFresh – Microbiological treatment with wet fogging 1:10 – odourless < 24 hours.
  • Wash with All-purpose HP and heat the room to ≈ 25 °C, wet-mop the entire surface with the selected Wet odour remediation 1:10 and ev.; Dry fogging if residual odour remains Dry odour removal or ProffOx Pf if the smell is stronger in cavities.
  • Spray/clean/mist with Bio-microbiological solution 1: 10; Enzymes + Bacillus permanently break down the source of the odour.
  • Stop moisture, vacuum with an approved HEPA vacuum cleaner, wash with an acidic agent Proffox Lemon 1:50, wipe with a dehumidifier ≤ 60 % RF – non-marking. Treat surface with ProffOx DES 5 L 1:10 with a wet fogger or low-pressure sprayer. For dry rot, remove the source completely and spray the remaining structures and building materials with Boracol 15
  • Emulsify Oil cleaning agent with 3–5 % solution with warm water, suck up, finish with Bio-microorganisms Biofresh -wet fogging for residual odours. 1:10

Yes, with emulsifying oil cleaning agent 3 %, follow up with BioFresh by smell.

Dry = cavities/deep odours and as a final treatment of the entire room after all steps have been completed: Source removed, cleaned, odour treated all accessible surfaces, wet fogging = for surface treatment that has been washed, especially absorbent and washable surfaces. Also textiles with the right choice of chemicals (not the ProffOx series).

How do I handle the different degrees of soot?

  • Soot grade 1: light film, wash 1:50. All-purpose HP
  • Soot grade 2: deep smell, wet fog + heating. Wet odour remediation or the ProffOx series
  • Soot grade 3: dry fogging, warm room 25-30 °C. ProffOx Pf or ProffOx Max

How do I deal with organic sources of odour?
