Frequently asked questions
How do I deal with acute spills, odours and contamination?
- If there is a strong odour, place the Powair odour bucket with fan outside.
- Wash mechanically, cover spills, remove coarse debris with an absorbent mat, and dispose of waste properly.
- Spray on Bio Fresh, leave to work for at least 5-30 minutes.
- Wash off with ProffOx Lemon.
- Spray on ProffOx DES (disinfectant) – leave it on, do not remove.
What must always be in the ambulance?
When should I use a maternity bag and how is it labelled?
It is recommended to use a bin liner for every collection to avoid unwanted spills in your car or home, but especially if there is visible liquid or suspected infection. Remember to mark «infection» if necessary.
Wet fogging or dry fogging — when should I use which?
Wet fogging for surfaces/material contact; dry fogging for air/rooms/cars without people present.
How do I clean and disinfect the stretcher and vehicle?
Wash with the appropriate chemicals, such as ProffOx Lemon, then disinfect the surface with ProffOx Des (for bleach-sensitive areas, use Proff Elyte); finish with brief air treatment such as ozonation or dry fogging if necessary.
Correct donning/doffing of personal protective equipment?
Follow the sequence: hand hygiene between glove changes; undressing in the «dirty zone».
How do I handle waste?
Use double bags for wet/infectious waste; follow local regulations for infectious waste; document quantity/delivery.
What sources are the methods based on?
Norwegian/international recommendations for basic infection control procedures, disinfection and waste management.
Personal protective equipment when collecting?
- Disposable coveralls, nitrile gloves, safety goggles/visor, medical face mask, nose plugs, full/half mask if required.
Biological odour – first steps?
- Remove source/spill; odour box with breeze fan for immediate attenuation; consider spraying chemicals on site; air purifier.
Working time – what does it mean?
- When cleaning mechanically, the entire surface must be kept wet for the specified time in order to be effective.
Ambulance quickly back in service?
- Spot disinfection + whole-surface disinfection; brief air treatment; procedures for undressing and hand hygiene.
